This generalist attitude allows him to fill the gaps when they appear, moving between tasks in the workshop and office. Barnaby takes most situations lightly, but is serious about doing a good job.
ABOUT .reSPOKE
.reSPOKE IS THE NAME WE FABRICATED FOR OURSELVES.
You see that is what we do, we create things, new things, specific to their cause. We re-do things. We were conceived from a desire to question the familiar. The full stop at the beginning of our name represents where old things end and new things begin. Lastly all that we craft is bespoke and .reSPOKE is essentially bespoke but redone.
.reSPOKE began in 2012 as an artistic installation business. Since then, we have come to realise our passion for designing unique street furniture for the public arena. We are most proud when our work helps to foster community spirit. We thrive on seeing people enjoying themselves in a space we helped create, whether it be a child treating the landscape as their own miniature urban playground, or friends stopping to sit down for a meal on our sidewalk furniture. Each project we touch is carefully crafted to complement the site and the surrounding businesses, enticing people to linger a little longer.
Our goal as designers and manufacturers is to create environments with our urban furniture that blend inventive design and functional purpose. We want to draw people into a space with unique works that are distinguishable, intelligent, and sustainable whenever possible. By blending inventive design with functional purpose, we are able to provide some of the most unique creations to our clients. These one of a kind pieces inspire people to rediscover the value of design, unite communities, provide places of relaxation, and offer artistic inspiration.
At .reSPOKE, quality is just as important as everything else. Our products are engineered to be long lasting and safe. We often create modular designs, and our clients love how easy it is to transport, relocate, and switch out if necessary.
From concept to implementation, we work with our clients to make sure cost and environmental impact are sensibly managed through intelligent, efficient design and manufacturing. As a small business, we are able to quickly make decisions or changes when it comes to design, fabrication, and installation. We have worked with property developers, interior designers, business owners, and local government.
TESTIMONIALS
OUR WORKSPACE
Our workshop is a real example of the philosophies that drive .reSPOKE. We collaborate - with the community for inspiration, with suppliers for materials and with other professionals to finish the project.
With the workshop’s space and equipment, we are able to work with wood, concrete and metal, including welding, folding, bending, rolling and cutting.
CHERITON HAUS
OUR CREATIVE COLLECTIVE
Our warehouse, only five minutes from Perth’s CBD, where we home numerous small businesses and artists who share ideas, skills and good times to collectively build great projects. Some of these include a sculpturist, laser cutter, cubby house maker, gym, woodworker, surfboard maker, sound engineers and a few others. Like any healthy community, the space is flexible to allow for change and evolution, is safe and secure, and maintains and expands connections to other businesses and people.
As well as being a private space of design, development and fabrication, the workshop brings people in. Art exhibitions, fitness classes, project collaborations and informal sundowners have been features of this dynamic hub.
