CANTONMENT STREET FURNITURE - FREMANTLE

The Cantonment Street corner looks towards the port of Fremantle, and the location inspired the design and materiality. Upcycled jarrah timbers akin to that found on jetties makes for durable seating, whereas repurposed concrete soak wells create a barrier between the street and footpath. Sleek steel cylinders act as stools or tables and are coloured like the shipping containers that contribute to Freo’s unique skyline. The seats have become an iconic meeting place and draw attention to the corner and surrounding businesses.
