MCDONALDS

Landmarks are key features of any landscape. They are attractors to a location, a reason to stay longer, they can draw people through spaces or a reliable meeting point. McDonald’s in Melville was looking for all of these features and so .reSPOKE collaborated with Handbrake Design to create a standout and memorable sculpture.

The Wayfarer is an iconic piece of eyewear, suited for the Australian climate while remaining stylish throughout the years. To relate to this reliability and Western Australian red earth, tough corten steel was chosen as the material. This was grounded in a block of concrete dotted with aggregate that suited the colour of the piece. Uplighting is also embedded in this plinth, ensuring that the landmark continues to function even at night.
